My name is Tenae Brissett and I am a final year Writing, Literature and Publishing major.

I decided to register for the course LITS3604: Creative Non – fiction Writing and Digital Media because it is a compulsory course for my degree, however, in spite of this, I am so happy to be in this class because I have a strong love for vlogs, literally spending hours out of my day watching vlogs from any and everywhere all over YouTube. My favourites are day in the lives of university/college students, college/university move – in vlogs, black women style and self care content and movies/tv shows reviews. What I want to accomplish from this course is learning about the behind the scenes of what goes into creating vlogs – the lighting, the audio, the camera shots, user engagement etc. Though I am not looking to start up a vlog channel yself, I would love to work on a filming and editing team for a content channel on YouTube and I believe that this course will help me to achieve this possible career path one day.

    Hi Tenae!

    I find your love of vlogs fascinating; but you are rightly placed if your career goal is what you described at the end. I don’t doubt you’ll get there.

    I also wanted to commend you on the way you summarized the interview between Dr. Taylor and the podcaster. Your presentation of both the information and the criticisms was clear and insightful, at least from my perspective.

    I’d like to offer a suggestion, if I may. Given that YouTube is typically associated with video content, it might be a good idea to consider hosting your podcast on a dedicated podcast platform. This way, you can optimize the listening experience for your audience. Platforms like Spotify Podcasters could be a fantastic fit for the series you mentioned earlier. SoundCloud might also be a helpful option to explore in order to reach a broader audience who prefers audio-only content.
