Grandparents Defining My Cultural Identity
Whenever I reminisce about the time spent with my maternal grandparents and listen to stories of my deceased paternal grandparents, I realise that there are many invisible actions that have influenced me and played a part in defining my cultural identity. Grandparents are often ignored when considering who are the influences that raised and shaped a child, most of the credit is given to the parents. But that is a different situation for me. I was raised by my maternal grandmother and I spent most of my time with both of my maternal grandparents. Their personal traits, daily activities and perception of the world have influenced me in many ways, which I am continuously discovering as I participate in this project.
