We all knew it was going to happen. I even saw someone predict her death – the exact day, & time – you know how wild twitter is.

The announcement didn’t blow me out of the water. It didn’t set me into chaos with thoughts of the changes to the monarchy or with thoughts of uncertainty. Heck it barely had any marked effect.
But I did sit in silence for more than a few beats of the heart.
Like many other Jamaicans, my feelings toward our colonizers are that of indifference, anger, and ever-present resentment. But I couldn’t help but be glad it was at least a woman oppressing me instead of a man.
Hi I’m a raging feminist in case you can’t tell yet. Lizzie is gone now, and for the almost 22 years I knew her to be queen, she was iconic on ever level. Incredible sense of humor (remember when she wore white to Camilla and Charles wedding after Camilla wore white to Charles and Diana’s wedding? She’s an Icon.)
I’ll have my memories, and of course many videos to look back and laugh at. There’s a king on the throne now, but Long Live the Queen; We hope the Queen will live forever.
