ABOUT
Welcome. won’t you listen?
This is Jamaican Voices: Real and/or Imagined. We are explorers and this is our landing page. Check out who we are and learn about what we are working on for this project.

I’m Dr. Isis Semaj-Hall (aka the Riddim Writer), a lecturer in the Department of Literatures in English at UWI, Mona. My research interest wobbles at the intersection of the Caribbean’s literature, music, and digital possibilities. This semester we have created an archive of perspectives and materials that examine how we want our Jamaican voices to be heard in 2022 and beyond. By identifying what mattered to them, these bold student-contributors spotlighted Jamaican society’s unspoken pain-points and produced multimodal content (text combined with sound, still and moving images, mapping software, gaming software, and even AI image modeling). What you will find here is digitally-enhanced creative non-fiction work.
*All content below and beyond was drafted/ created/ edited by the students.

Okay welcome to another episode of Jamaican Voices Real or Imagined. Today we have a very special guest Nicole. How are you doing today Ms Nicole? I’m doing fine thanks.
Do you believe that persons who have already passed that once they have passed away their voice still has significance like they don’t have a voice anymore, what do you think about that?
Well I believe that persons who have passed, other than memories they still live on, their voice still has significance even after they are gone. Once you’re not going to do what a person did in there while alive you’re going to learn to be good from person, and if the person is good you would want to carry on that legacy, it does live on.
Ok thank you
