Brainstorming: Jamaican Tourism saving culture and heritage or destroying our authenticity?

Jamaica’s culture and heritage are things the country has always been widely recognized for; however, this is not accurately represented in our tourism industry, currently, the focus is largely on the main attractions of the island such as the many hotels that crowd the coastline or the “white sandy beaches” as they are often described.
If more interest were placed in including an accurate representation of the country’s culture, history, and heritage, we would be firstly able to restructure the narrative on Jamaican culture and also be able to offer more historically accurate and relevant information on the few great house tours that are advertised to the wider public and tourist alike. This would not only generate more interest and investments to improve and properly preserve these sites but also aid in funding locations like the Jamaican National Heritage Trust (JNHT) to keep these sites authentic to the history and heritage they represent.
