The death of Queen Elizabeth II devastated many nations and I can understand why. The Queen reigned for 7 decades and was loved tremendously by her people. Somehow, I find myself unattached to the whole news on the subject. She was head of state of Jamaica (which made her heir Charles III king now), a country that has recently announced their intention to become a republic. My nonchalant reaction to her death comes from Jamaica being under the shackles of colonialism for centuries from Britain.
I am looking forward to the day Jamaica abandon ship to the British monarchy.
